Chapter-wise Weightage & Study Tips

11th & 12th Std — Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics (HSC Board / JEE-NEET-CET Foundation)

Note: The weightage shown below for 12th std is an approximate, indicative distribution based on recent board exam trends, meant only to help you plan revision priority. It is not an official publication of the State Board — always follow your teacher's guidance and the latest official question paper pattern for exact marks distribution. 11th std has no board exam in Maharashtra, so chapters there are tagged by importance for your 12th/NEET/CET foundation instead of marks.

How to Study Physics
  • Derive every formula at least once by hand — Physics numericals are graded on the step-by-step method, not just the final answer.
  • Keep a single "formula sheet" per chapter and revise it 5 minutes before every study session.
  • Prioritise Rotational Dynamics, Electrostatics and Current Electricity — they carry the highest combined weightage and also dominate MHT-CET/NEET numericals.
  • Practice NCERT-exemplar-style and previous 5 years' board numericals chapter-wise before attempting full mock papers.
  • For MCQ-heavy entrance exams, drill units, dimensions and graph-based questions — they're quick marks often lost due to carelessness.

How to Study Chemistry
  • Split your revision by the three blocks — Physical, Inorganic, Organic — and rotate daily instead of finishing one block before starting the next.
  • Inorganic Chemistry (Groups, Transition Elements, Coordination Compounds) is largely memory-based — use short daily recall tests instead of long re-reading sessions.
  • For Physical Chemistry (Solutions, Kinetics, Thermodynamics, Electrochemistry), master the formula derivations — numericals here repeat patterns every year.
  • Build named-reaction and mechanism flashcards for Organic Chemistry chapters — Alcohols/Phenols/Ethers through Amines are best learned as one connected reaction map.
  • Redo NCERT in-text and back questions for Biomolecules and Polymers — entrance exams draw MCQs directly from these lines.

15Skeleton and MovementLow
How to Study Biology
  • Biology is diagram-and-terminology heavy — redraw every labelled diagram (flower L.S., cell organelles, human systems) from memory rather than just reading them.
  • Genetics chapters (Inheritance and Variation, Molecular Basis of Inheritance) reward practice — solve numerical genetics problems daily, don't just read theory.
  • Group revision by theme: Reproduction (Plants+Animals), Genetics (Inheritance+Molecular Basis+Evolution), and Ecology (Organisms, Ecosystems, Biodiversity) — these overlap heavily in NEET questions.
  • Make one-line "keyword" flashcards for Biotechnology processes and enzymes — MCQs test precise terms, not concepts.
  • Revise NCERT lines verbatim for Human Health and Diseases and Biodiversity — a large share of NEET Biology MCQs are lifted almost directly from NCERT text.

How to Study Mathematics
  • Maths is the one subject where reading isn't revision — solve problems daily; recognising a method is not the same as being able to execute it under time pressure.
  • Calculus (Differentiation through Differential Equations) spans both Part II chapters and dominates JEE/CET — get this block rock-solid before anything else.
  • Vectors and Line & Plane carry the highest weightage in Part I — practice visualising 3D geometry with rough sketches rather than pure algebra.
  • Keep a mistake log — most Maths marks are lost to silly errors (sign mistakes, missed constants), not conceptual gaps. Review it weekly.
  • Time yourself on Linear Programming and Probability Distributions questions — they're formula-driven and should take a fixed, short time once practiced.
General exam-prep tip: Spend the first pass of your revision cycle on High-importance/high-weightage chapters across all four subjects, then circle back for Medium and Low ones. Attempt one full-length, timed mock test per week as your exam date gets closer to build speed and accuracy together.
